Elekta TV Service Menu: Codes, Factory Reset & Key Unlock Guide

Elekta TV Service Menu: Codes, Factory Reset & Key Unlock Guide

Elekta TVs hide advanced features behind a service menu (also called service mode). From this hidden menu, you can factory reset the TV, remove the panel key lock, and turn hotel mode on or off. This guide gives you the Elekta TV service menu codes and how to use them safely.

Below you'll find the codes in priority order, reset steps for both service-menu and no-remote methods, how to clear key lock and hotel mode, and what to do if the picture looks wrong after the reset.

What Is the Elekta TV Service Menu?

Like many TV manufacturers, Elekta builds hidden technician features into its TVs. The service menu gives access to:

  • Factory reset / shipping mode — restore all default settings.
  • Key lock removal — unlock frozen panel buttons.
  • Hotel mode — enable or disable hospitality restrictions.
  • Picture and sound calibration — factory-level adjustments.

You need the original Elekta remote control to enter these code sequences — universal remotes usually can't send them reliably.

About Elekta TVs and Their Chassis

Elekta is a regional TV brand, and like most regional brands its sets are built on widely used China universal boards (the CV59x and T.MSD families). That is why the codes above look familiar: MENU + 1147 is the same factory-mode key used across dozens of China-board brands, and MENU + 2008 or 1234 are its common alternates. Older Elekta CRT models (CTV 1440/1420, CTR series) and newer LED models share the same menu layout but sometimes different passwords — CRT chassis lean toward 0000, LED chassis toward 1234. If your Elekta has a different board inside (check the service sticker on the back), the fitting code from our universal code list usually works too.

Safety Warning

The service menu contains settings that can seriously disrupt your TV if changed incorrectly. Only change the options described in this guide (reset, key lock, hotel mode), and note down original values before changing anything.

Elekta TV Service Menu Codes

Try these codes in order — different Elekta chassis use different codes. Press MENU on the remote, then enter the numbers:

#Code Sequence
1MENU + 1147
2MENU + 1122
3MENU + 2008
4MENU + 2365
5MENU + 1177
6MENU + 1234
7MENU + 0264
8MENU + 0009
9MENU + 1555

How to Open the Service Menu

With the TV on, press MENU, then type the 4-digit code promptly — the menu appears over the picture. Navigate with the arrow keys and press EXIT to leave. If one code does nothing, try the next.

If It Asks for a Password

Some Elekta chassis ask for a password right after the code. Try 0000 or 1234 first. If neither works, check our TV PIN reset guide for more ways to clear an unknown PIN.

Why Elekta Has Nine Different Codes

Elekta is a regional brand, and its TVs are built on common China universal mainboards that change between batches and model years. Each board family answers to its own entry code — that is why the table above lists nine sequences instead of one, and why a code that works on a neighbor's Elekta may do nothing on yours. Trying the list in order is the normal procedure, not a sign of a fault. When a code does open the menu, note it down somewhere — the same code usually keeps working on that TV, because the chassis family rarely changes within one set. If none of the nine codes open anything, the menu may be disabled in the current firmware, or the remote's MENU signal may not be registering — in that case try the no-remote recovery method in the Factory Reset section instead.

Elekta TV Factory Reset

A factory reset wipes all channels, apps, accounts, and settings — use it for key locks, frozen software, or hotel mode leftovers.

Reset From the Service Menu

  1. Open the service menu with one of the codes above.
  2. Find the Factory Setting / Reset / Shipping Mode option, select it, and confirm.
  3. The TV resets and reboots by itself in 15–20 seconds.

Reset Without a Remote (Recovery Mode)

  1. Turn the TV off.
  2. Press and hold the POWER and VOLUME UP buttons on the TV panel together.
  3. Keep holding until the Elekta logo appears, then release — the TV enters recovery mode.
  4. Select Factory Reset (Volume to move, Power to select), then Wipe Data / Yes — delete all user data and confirm.
  5. When finished, select Reboot System and wait for the TV to start.

Before the Reset: Write Down These Three Things

A factory reset erases everything, and the retune afterwards goes much smoother if you note three things first. One: your channel list — at least the numbers of the channels you actually watch, so you can check that the auto-tune picked them all up. Two: any picture or sound tweaks you liked — Elekta sets on universal chassis often come back with a different default picture mode after a reset. Three: your Wi-Fi password and any logged-in apps, since smart Elekta models sign everything out. And remember the After the Reset Checklist below: an upside-down or mirrored picture right after a reset is fixed with the mirror setting in the factory menu, not by resetting again.

Fix Key Lock and Hotel Mode

Remove the Panel Key Lock

If the panel buttons don't respond, the key lock is on. Open the service menu and run the factory reset — it clears the key lock along with all settings. Without any remote, see TV keys unlock without remote — 3 methods.

Disable Hotel Mode

Hotel mode restricts channels, limits volume, and disables panel buttons — a common cause of "restricted" second-hand TVs. In the service menu, set the Hotel Mode (or Hospitality) option to Off and press EXIT to save. Then run a fresh channel auto-tune.

Why the Key Lock Turns Itself On

Panel key lock rarely appears by accident. The usual causes: child lock switched on from the remote and forgotten; a second-hand TV still in hotel mode from its previous life (hotels lock panels by default); or a stuck panel button — a physically jammed VOL or MENU key makes the set behave as if keys are locked. Tell them apart fast: if the remote works fine but the panel buttons don't, it's the key lock; if both are dead, suspect hotel mode; if one panel button clicks differently or feels sunken, press it firmly a few times to unstick it before opening the service menu.

Key Lock or Hotel Mode: Which One Is Blocking You?

A locked TV shows one of two behaviors, and the fix differs. If the remote works normally but the buttons on the TV itself do nothing, that is the panel key lock — open the service menu and set Key Lock to Off. If instead the TV restricts channels, caps the volume, blocks source switching, or keeps showing a hotel welcome message, that is hotel mode — set the Hotel or Hospitality option to Off and re-run the channel auto-tune. The tricky case is a second-hand TV with both on: hotel mode often enables the key lock too, so clear hotel mode first, then check whether the panel buttons respond before reaching for the key lock setting. And if every button on both the remote and the panel is dead, you are probably looking at a frozen mainboard rather than either lock — try the no-remote recovery-mode reset before anything else.

Elekta Universal Remote Codes

If your original remote is lost or locked, try programming a universal remote with one of these Elekta codes:

4-digit codes: 0583, 0309, 0037, 0264, 0009, 1555, 0036, 0291, 0021, 3241, 0061, 0861, 2881, 0471, 0556

5-digit codes: 13713, 11008, 17921, 16032, 18339, 19332, 10125, 13248, 13001, 15526

If the remote itself isn't responding, see how to fix a TV remote control.

After the Reset Checklist

  • Auto-tune channels: Menu → Channel → Auto Tuning to rescan everything.
  • Picture mode: Menu → Picture → Standard or Dynamic. Image upside down? Use the mirror setting in the factory menu. Our TV panel mirror codes guide covers inverted and flipped pictures in full.
  • Update software so the same bugs don't return — see our LED TV firmware loading guide.
  • Models covered: CTV 1440/1420, CR 2010 NE, CTR 2039/2036/2028/1452 EMK, CE 5318, 1498 EMK — and most Elekta CRT/LED TVs on the same chassis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Elekta service menu code should I try first?

Start with the first code in the Elekta TV Service Menu Codes table above, and work down the table in order if nothing happens.

Do I need the original remote?

Yes for the service menu — see What Is the Elekta TV Service Menu? above. For basic control, the universal codes in the Elekta Universal Remote Codes section usually work.

Will the factory reset delete my channels?

Yes — see Elekta TV Factory Reset above for everything a reset erases and the Auto Tuning step that follows it.

The menu opened but I don't understand the options. What now?

Press EXIT immediately without changing anything — wrong panel or tuner changes can break the TV.

The menu opened but the options are in another language. What now?

This is common on China-board chassis — the factory menu sometimes defaults to Chinese. Look for the Language option (usually near the top of the first page) and switch it to English before changing anything else. If you can't find it, press EXIT and reopen the menu after the factory reset — the reset usually restores the default language.

My Elekta remote has no MENU button. How do I enter the code?

Some compact Elekta remotes label it HOME or hide it behind a settings gear icon — both send the same MENU command the service codes expect. If the remote truly lacks it, the no-remote recovery method in the Factory Reset section above reaches the reset without any code at all, and a universal remote programmed with one of the codes above can stand in for the original.

Try the codes in order, change only the settings this guide names, and note down the code that works on your set. Once the reset or the unlock is done, the checklist above gets the channels, picture, and sound back to normal without another trip into the service menu.
